Bless Them Abundantly:
A Veteran’s Day Prayer
Dear Lord,
Today we honor our veterans,
worthy men and women
who gave their best
when they were called upon
to serve and protect their country.
We pray that you will bless them, Lord,
for their unselfish service
in the continual struggle
to preserve our freedoms, our safety,
and our country’s heritage, for all of us.
Bless them abundantly
for the hardships they faced,
for the sacrifices they made,
for their many different contributions
to America’s victories
over tyranny and oppression.
We respect them, we thank them,
we honor them, we are proud of them,
and we pray that you will watch over
these special people
and bless them with peace and happiness.
In Jesus’ name we pray; Amen.

Wednesday thoughts....

It's a lovely day here in central NY, albeit a bit cool.  Just came in from mowing up more leaves.  I would like to say I'm done, but the ole Oak in the back still has some leaves, so I'll probably have to do it once more before winter.
I wanted to come back in to work on a little painted sign, but my hands seem too shaky right now, from the mower's vibration I guess, so I thought I would jot a few lines and post a few pictures.  Hope you are all having a great day.
This is a stitchery from Create & Decorate Magazine, that I just completed.  Found the frame at the Thrift Store, for 50c and it fits perfectly.  I just need to get it mounted.

A tall snowman that I've been working on.

Little sign I had an order for - FINALLY sold something!  Hope to get it done tonight and mailed out tomorrow.

This cutie I purchased from  Jenn over at Yankee Ridge Primitives.  She was having a close out sale on a lot of her stuff and I got him at a great price.  He's sitting in a little cubby chair that I picked up at goodwill for $4...still need to paint it up, but I thought it fit him perfectly.  I know that Halloween is over, but he's too cute to put away just yet.
Last but not least, we finally got around to getting a full size bed for our youngest son's room.  He's nearly 6 foot tall and even though he said he was fine, I hated to let another day go by with him sleeping in the small twin that had been in his room.  I had been keeping my eye open for an antique metal frame for some time, but never could find one that was in decent shape.  When I saw this at the furniture store, I just had to have it!  So we got a wonderful mattress and the bed frame too.  It's so comfy I have been tempted to sleep on it!

Greetings this Monday morning

Here it is Monday again....not sure where the weekend went.  Saturday we went to breakfast with our good friends, then drove the 1 1/2 hr trip to my parents.  We spent til around 2 visiting them, then hopped on over to the neighboring town to visit my aunt in the nursing home.  It was her birthday, so we wanted to make a point of visiting.  After that, we attended our first "Jack & Jill" party for my niece and her fiancee.  We didn't know quite what to expect and figured it was just for the young folks.  All ages (including my parents) came and it was nice to spend time with the family.  Now that my sons and their cousins have grown and started families of their own, it is harder and harder for us all to get together at once.  It was a lovely time and we won two bottles of wine!  We drove home in the dark with our son following behind us...keeping a watchful eye out for the deer.  They spent the night at our home, we went to Mass in the morning, I made spaghetti and meatballs, and they stayed until about 4:30 on Sunday, before heading on home.
Today it is off to work and then trying to decide what, if any, crafts shows I want to do.  Been somewhat apathetic about it all after that first show was cancelled and have had no sales online.  Gotta 'pull up my bootstraps' and get back in gear soon I guess.
A little more than one week left before I hold my 100 Followers giveaway!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!

New Christmas Item for sale

This sweet and homey sign is a loving reminder of all that is important at Christmas.  This year I am offering two sizes - 5x4 ($7.50) and 8x6 ($10.50).  Each comes with a homespun ribbon, tied in a bow at the top, for hanging.  S&H for each is $3.95

Off to the Post Office....

I'm off to the post office to mail my two swap packages.  The first is for a Christmas swap held by Val at Yorkies Primitives.  The second package is for the Ornie Swap that I hosted.  Deadline for sending those ornies out is Nov. 15th ladies!  I've sent a reminder email out to everyone.  Time to brave the rain and cold air again....
Hello again bloggin' buddies!  Happy Thursday!  It's a rainy and cool day here...my personal weather forecaster (my son - senior meteorology major) says we can expect very cold temps this weekend and lake effect snow - brrr....I' just not ready for this yet!  Good news is, he says that next week will be in the 60s and nice.  I'm thankful for that, because we need to have one more round of leaf collecting and I need to cover all my plants that the deer love to chew on in the winter.
This week both my vacuum and washing machine are on the blink.  The vac just needs a new belt, which is on it's way....the washer...well...it is 18 years old and rusting on the inside rim.  The cycle stops whenever it feels like it, and I am constantly having to restart.  DH figures it is the timer....a new one will cost around $120!  Based on the age and condition of the set, we have decided to purchase new ones!  I'm so excited.  Found some at Lowe's that I loved...the new energy efficient, front-loaders.  We are going to go tomorrow night to price some at Sears, Home Depot and a local store...then decide.  Anyone got suggestions on what kind to buy???
In other news, I think I have found another show (maybe 2) to do soon.  Waiting to hear back from the lady in charge.  I've been somewhat down about not being able to sell much online, and I know how great the shows are, so I'm hoping this will work for me. * Fingers crossed*
Have a blessed day all!

Tuesday Display Chain and a Makeover

I was trying to think this morning of what I could submit for the Tuesday Display Chain, and I came up with a couple of quick things.

This cabinet (which I desperately want to find the time to redo) actually has our paper recycling bins inside, along with some large platters and tablecloths.  I could have sworn I took a picture of the inside, but when I downloaded the pics, it wasn't there...but you didn't miss much!

Sweet little 'fake' wooden cabinet that my hubby made for me...it hides...

..my ugly and ancient Oster mixer (it still works great)
Next I wanted to share a make-over I did!  This shelf was handed down to us from my parents when we got our first place.  It's been here and there, including in my sewing room before it's redo in September.  I decided at that time to sand, paint and age it, so I could reuse it...it was looking pretty tired.  I love the way it turned out and now it proudly hangs in my kitchen (just hung it this afternoon)

Before....

During....

After!  It's hard to see the finish from this picture, but I painted it black and used an antique walnut poly stain on it.  Love it!

Ornie Swap Reminder

Brrrrr....it is a very chilly morning around here today.  The low last night, according to www.GrotonWeather.com (the weather station is on our roof) was 26.  It was very frosty out this morning.  However, the sun has come out and I hope it warms it up a bit.

I just wanted to remind those who joined the Ornie Swap that they must have their ornament out to their swap by Nov 15th.  You still have 13 days!  If for some reason you are unable to meet your obligation in the swap, please send me an email as soon as possible.

I hope you have been having fun with the swap and I look forward to seeing what everyone has created.  Have a blessed day!

Good bye Halloween - Hello Monday

Our Jack o'lanterns this year
A good Monday Morning to you all!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend and weren't too scared last night by all of the trick or treaters! It was a quiet weekend for DH and I, but we took the opportunity to work outside on Saturday and do a much needed cleaning of the laundry/storage room on Sunday.  We cleaned up all the leaves in the yard (again)...one more time should be enough this year..and we cleaned all the leaves out of the fish pond and securely covered it with fencing and netting - NOTHING is getting in there this winter to eat my precious fish.  Two years ago we lost 40 beautiful fish - something squeezed in (mink perhaps) and nibbled them one by one all winter long.  Last year the same thing happened, but of course, there were not as many and as large fish then.  This year we are not running the waterfall so it won't attract critters.  Sunday was spent watching some football and sorting through a lot of things in the laundry room - it is so nice and neat now! Today it is off to work for the morning, then back here to do some housework, etc.  There is a sprinkling of snow on some bushes and the tarps on the woodpiles this morning, so I don't think I'll be doing more outside - brrrr....the woodstove sure was lovely this weekend - so cozy and warm!
Have a wonderful day every and don't forget to enter my giveaway - link on the right sidebar. ~Blessings to you all~
