A rough weekend......

Good afternoon prim friends.  I don't about you, but I enjoy visiting blogs that are cheery and fun...however, mine has not been so lately, and for that I apologize.  Life has been pretty rough around here the past couple months, and the weekend was no different.

My sweet hubby has been having a very tough time with the chemo this weekend.  He was so weak and couldn't eat or drink much at all.  We left early this morning to head back to the chemo lab, so that he could get rehydrated and get some more anti-nausea meds in him.  He should be feeling much better in an hour or so.

If you recall, I had mentioned before about my Rooster Hoss...who had some injuries to his comb as a result of the mink attack.  I brought him inside and he was crowing up a storm Saturday morning and looking so good, I thought it was time for him to return to the coop.  I placed our other rooster in the barn to enable Hoss to re-establish himself....he seemed just fine.  I went back out about 1/2 later to check for eggs and check on him.  He was walking around the coop.  I bent over to search the nest boxes...heard a strange sound behind me...turned around and poor Hoss was flopping around on the floor...I quickly picked him up, and with one last breath...he died in my arms.  I am not certain what happened, but I have read that it is not uncommon for sudden death to happen to male birds....and perhaps the strain of the entire attack, recovery and reintroduction were just to much for his little heart.

RIP Hoss

Let's hope the rest of the week goes well!  I really need to stay at home and get some things done...with Chris' chemo last week and today, I am so far behind.  I have orders to get out and work on.

Through it all, we are Praising God for His goodness in our Life.  We have so many blessings, and although we've hit a few bumps in the road recently, things could be so much worse...so we thank our Lord for his kindness and for looking over us with his Love.

Have a lovely week all....I'll try to blog again in a couple days.
Bless you all once again for all your kind comments and prayers...Chris & I appreciate each and every one!

  2. I have been praying for all of you, healing and strength.
I am so sorry to hear about Hoss. Gladys seems to have a cold here and I am praying that she over comes it. I think it's been so hard for all of the critters this winter with the bitter let alone an attack for your poor flock. Spring is coming along with better times, I promise you.

  5. The words, I'm sorry just doesn't tell you how horrible I feel about Hoss. If there is one thing that you can hold on to, is knowing that he was in your arms at that last moment, and I truly hope you know about the Rainbow Bridge (something tells me that you do). We will all be reunited with each other and our pets, forever. What a promise God has made to us.

I pray that Chris is feeling better. You know that you both are in my prayers every day. Blessings to you both.

    Hugs

  6. Aww, I'm so sorry for your loss of Hoss. I love chickens and think they are beautiful little creatures.
Your posts are just fine. We all know life isn't happy all the time and sometimes it helps that we can post about our woes and receive warm sentiments and support from our friends.
Sending warm hugs your way and prayers up for you and your hubby.
    Blessings,
    Carol

    Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me;
See on the portals He's waiting and watching, Watching for you and for me. Come home...come home...Ye who are weary come home...Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling Calling o sinner, come home....

We are not worthy of His love, His mercies...but He loves us anyway....Be encouraged dear friend...His love is like an ocean and He is always reaching out to us in love and knows how it is to suffer. But that's what makes his promises for you and for me so amazing!
