Day 4 - Back on track

Welcome to Day 4
of
My Twelve Days of Christmas Celebration!

Here's the tutorial for the

Twine Christmas Star

I was working on yesterday.

Supplies

Twine - 2 rolls or more, depending on the size of your star
Star template
Heavy cardboard (cut from a heavy box)
Utility Knife or scissors
Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
Faux pine, berries, ribbon-whatever you choose

Start by drawing a star template (if you are handy at that kind of stuff - mine would look so lopsided) or printing one out from your computer in the size desired.  You can make these stars in three sizes:

Big - to hang on the wall, door or porch
Medium - to use as gift embellishments
Small - to use an ornies

Trace your star pattern onto the heavy cardboard and using the utility knife or scissors cut it out.  Now using a pen, trace inside your cardboard star about 1 inch from the edge (depending on the size of your star), so that you have a smaller star traced within the large one...now cut that out as well.

Tie your twine around one edge of the star, secure with a little hot glue and begin wrapping it, keeping it as close as possible.

Continuing wrapping, and gluing where necessary, until you have done all of the edges of the star, leaving the ends free of twine for now.  Once you are done, glue the end of the twine to the star frame and cut.

Take the end of your twine and glue it to the very end of the star, making sure to cover the tip and press together the ends of the star.  Wrap the twine, as shown in the picture below.  Glue and cut when you reach the twine on the edges.  Repeat for the remaining tips.
You are now ready to glue a loop of twine on for the hanger and adorn with whatever embellishments you wish!

This project is so fun, you are going to want to make lots of different sizes!

Enjoy.

See you tomorrow!
