Before I get on with the rest of my post, I want to say a big Thank you to Janice over at Prims by the Water. I won her giveaway right before Christmas and haven't had a chance to post about it. She sent me this adorable little angel - isn't she sweet!? Thanks so much Janice and please accept my apologies for not posting about my win sooner.
I also wanted to share a friend's picture of the feather tree she made, using the instructions I posted during my Twelve Days of Christmas share-a-thon. Theresa made this wonderful white tree, and she made the little applesauce star ornies to go on it. I love the way it turned out Theresa, and the hot chocolate can was a great addition. You may recall that Theresa and I were partners in the Christmas swap a while back. I'm so glad she sent me the picture of her finished tree - if any of you gals completed any of the projects I posted about, I'd be happy to post a picture if you send one along. Thank you for sharing with us Theresa.
Mr. Whimzie and I have been shopping for a new fridge the last few days. I'm looking at a side-by-side from GE. Hubby likes a french door model with the freezer on the bottom. If any of you gals have one of these types of fridges, I'd appreciate knowing the pros/cons of the different styles. It can be mind boggling to decide!
I've been working on several new items for my Etsy shop. Today I finished this little heart pocket. I feel it needs something else, but I can't quite decide what. In the meantime, I'm finishing up some sheep, geese and a valentine snowman.
With an eye toward Spring already, I've ordered my seed catalogs and look forward to receiving them. I checked the calendar to see when Easter was this year, and it is April 8th. With that in mind, I have been thinking of starting sign-ups for a swap...which I will call the Bunny Hop Swap! We all like to decorate for the holidays several weeks ahead of time, so I figured if I held sign-ups now, and got the partners matched up by the beginning of February, with a mail out date in the beginning of March...that would give you all time to make a great swap package and enjoy your goodies for a few weeks before Easter. So...if you are interested.....here are the rules:
Bunny Hop Swap
This swap will be for just one item, a BUNNY. You are free to add additional items in your package, but you must include a rabbit, handmade by you, and at least 12" long.
To join the swap, you must follow these rules, which are for the good of everyone:
1. You must be a follower of my blog and I must know you. I have hosted a couple of swaps in the past where some people I didn't know well signed up, but did not follow through. I had to make up for their swap, and I simply don't have the time to do that.
2. If you wish to sign up, please make a comment on this post, and then you must email me (rwprimcrafts@aol.com) with your name, mailing address, and blog name, if you have one, together with your email address. Please be certain to send me your information...a comment here isn't enough to get you signed up.
3. You must send your package to your swap partner by March 3rd and you MUST send it with a Delivery Confirmation. I know it costs a little extra, but it will eliminate any doubts that packages have been mailed out.
4. Sign ups will be taken until January 27th. I will then compile all the information, match people up and get your swap partner information to you by Feb. 3rd.
5. This is not a secret swap, and once you receive your partner's name, please contact them to say Hello!
6. Remember, this swap is for one handmade bunny, at least 12" long...additional items can be added to your package, but you must follow those guidelines for the rabbit.
I think that about covers it gals....I hope to get lots of sign-ups for the
Bunny Hop Swap
Yippee - thanks Wendy, I want in.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your heart. I thought I was being creative and just did 7 hanging hearts with pockets, similar but not the same, we were thinking the same thing!!! I don't think it needs anything else, it looks lovely. You are so talented.
Wendy, We too are looking for a new fridge. I've decided on the one that your husband wants - french doors. I personally do not like the narrower shelves on a side by side. That is my one and only reason for the French door style. I want black too. ~Ann
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteI love your heart pocket.I think it looks great the way it is. Oh yes, I do want to join the swap. Sounds like fun, fun, fun! Have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Linda
Hi Wendy!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I would love to participate in this swap! If you will take me,
Also regarding the fridge, have you ever had a side by side before? I have, and i must say, I don't recommend them. It is much harder to maneuver items into and out of the space as most of the space is front to back.
I currently have a "standard" fridge, freezer on the top, but it does have a water dispenser in the door witch is great. I also have seen several models with the freezer on the bottom, I have several friends with that set up and they are very happy with them, It seems the freezers on those fridges are large and very convenient.
I know how daunting it is to shop for appliances, I wish you the best of luck!
Hugs!
Kerri
Wendy,
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be a part of the swap and I have an idea for a 12' bunny that I have been wanting to do...perfect! I'll email you my info.
About fridges...I am a kitchen fanatic so I am horribley fussy. We have the standard fridges at The Stone House and The Little House. Here, where we are most of the time and do our big entertaining I had the Wide by Side to start with...I hated it with a passion. Then it started acting up before they had a recall on it, it has been burried in the garage ever since. I have a French door style now, it is much better although with the water/ice dispenser there is a lot of space that I would love to have but don't. I love the water/ice dispenser but it takes up so much space, something to consider, space or convienence. Until I can have my dream side by side commercial fridge and freezer I'll take the French door style over the residential side by side. Anyway there is my [strong!] opinion : ).
Good luck with your decision!
Kendra
Wendy~ I have a side by side and hate it.Things don't fit right like pizza boxes.Things are always falling out at me and it's hard to see what you have without unloading the whole freezer.I'm thinking about the swap.Does the bunny have to be handmade by me or just handmade? The little heart pocket would look cute with a skeleton key pinned on with a rusty safty pin.Warm Blessings!~Amy
ReplyDeleteWendy I'm up for doing your swap if you'll have me. I'll e-mail you all my info soon. I'm glad you like my tree...I didn't even wait for Hubby to drink up the hot chocolate before I took the can....LOL!!! :0) Thanks again for the pattern. :0)
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy :)
ReplyDeleteI have the freezer on the bottom type of fridge and I LOVE it! I am pretty tall, so I guess I like seeing my fridge things at eye level since I use that part more often. The one draw-back to my particular model is the freezer space is kind of small. I can fit lots in there, though. I think of it as putting a puzzle together.
I am mulling the Bunny Hop Swap over. Not a confident doll/bunny crafter so I need to see if I can do it justice. I don't want to disappoint a swap partner! (But seriously, who wouldn't want to join a swap named Bunny Hop Swap?!)
Thanks for the fun!
Melissa
Oops! I forgot to mention that I LOVE your heart! That is beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your win from Janice ~ Your angel is adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteTheresa did a wonderful job on her feather tree!!!
Your newest heart and mouse creation is sooooo cute!!!
I have a side by side frig ~ sorry to say I hate it. Never had enough room for anything ~ especially the freezer. Good Luck finding one you like.
Prim Blessings

Hi Wendy,
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in your Bunny Hop Swap. Sounds like fun.
I've had both types of fridges. The side by side, I didn't like that much. The shelves on fridge side were not wide enough for large platters. I loved the freezer on the bottom. Wide fridge shelves. Plenty of freezer space. Less bending to get stuff out of bottom of fridge. Much better having what you use most of the time at eye level. Hope this helps.
Ellie
1 degree?? BRRR!!! I would be stationing myself in front of the fireplace, hehe.
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet angel you won from Janice, Congratulations! Cute little feather tree with stars, love the hot chocolate tin she has it sitting in. Adorable mouse pocket!
I'm not quite ready for a swap yet but that sounds like a fun one. =]
Have a delightful week~
I'm joining the swapparoo! I love bunnies! :D
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy - please sign me up for your bunny hop swap! I have an awesome bunny pattern I've been anxious to get to! We have side by side and the freezer is too small. My mom won't have anything but a model with the freezer on the bottom-very roomy. Love that heart pocket!! ~*~Lisa
ReplyDeleteHello Wendy-
ReplyDeleteLove your heart pocket. So Cute :)
I had a side by side frig, with the ice maker and water feature in the door and I did not like it at all. There was no room at all, and with 3 growing boys, that refrig needed to be stocked. The freezer was twice as narrow, had to buy a seperate chest freezer. Not to mention after 2 yrs. started having problems with it and it went down hill from there. The ice maker went to heck, the compressor went out, and I don't remember what else. After 6 years and 4 major repairs $$$$ I got rid of it, Lol!
Love the little angel you won. So Cute!
I would like to join your swap if you would have me. I will e-mail you my info.
Hi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteI have a side by side fridge and would not recommend. There is no room to stock up the freezer and if you host any large get togethers and need to store food in the fridge you'll have a problem.
Adorable angel and heart pocket.
Blessings,
Jean
We selected a fridge with French doors when we moved into our new home this year and love it! I went with stainless steel for all my kitchen appliances, and if I had it to do over again, I might have selected a pebbled black finish (I say that because the fridge we got for our downstairs is black but it's a smooth finish; not what I expected).
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Pam
