Ever wonder how I named my blog?

Karen over at My Colonial Home is having a giveaway...but to make it extra fun to be entered, she is challenging us to make a post about our blog...how it started and where we came up with the name...so, here's a little history on
Ravenwood Whimzies!

I have always loved crafting...I recall making my first Christmas decoration...a mouse and pine on a barnwood board....when I was a teenager in our family's basement.  First I made things for myself and family members, then I sold a few items at a garage sale.  As many of you have probably experienced...you can only have so much 'stuff'...so I started doing craft shows.  There were a few good ones in our area, and I usually did well, but then they stopped having those shows, so I was out of luck.  I sold a few things here and there, and tried other venues, but not with much success.  In April of 2010, I decided to try listing my items on the internet...but had no clue where to start!  I did a few internet searches and somehow landed on Prim Chat one morning, when they ironically happened to be talking about starting your own on-line business.  One of the top suggestions they had on Prim Chat was to start a blog.  I knew nothing about blogging, but with the information I gleaned for that show, I took to Blogland and started my own blog....Ravenwood Whimzies.    Now the name I chose had been rolling around in my mind for a while...I  loved crows and was intrigued by the name used in Raiders of the Lost Ark...Marion Ravenwood...it was also the name of a golf course near my hometown.  While throwing around ideas in my mind of what might go with Ravenwood and reflect the variety of goodies I created, Whimsy came to mind...but to make it more interesting, I changed the spelling.  It sounded catchy to me, and after running it by my loved ones, decided to name my blog and online business
Ravenwood Whimzies.
I spent many hours online trying to network with fellow prim artists, and I was always welcomed and helped along the way by many wonderful gals.  I'll take this opportunity to thank all my Blog buddies for following, helping, swapping, praying and supporting me through the last two years.  What a great community you all are!
My newest daughter-in-law, Maria, created my logo for me, and son, Drew, has helped me make seasonal versions of the logo...we've had so much fun creating them.

Thanks again to Karen for making us take the time to reflect on our beginnings!
