So begins another week of cold weather here at Ravenwood Whimzies....the skies are cloudy and it is cold...foreboding a storm that may hit us yet again. Everyone is getting very tired of the cold air that has been planted over us most of the winter. It is unusual to have so many days of frigid temps. We normally get a few here and there in January and February, but this winter has been tough, with record lows set all around. Most of the Finger Lakes are frozen over. Owasco Lake, which is just down the road, has been frozen for at least two months. Every time I drive by I see ice fisherman sitting out on the ice.
I see them walking out pulling their sleds behind them. Some drive their ATVs out. I've seen people just strolling on the ice, and the other day, a lady was cross-country skiing. Before it thaws we vow to get down to the lake to experience it. It seems that not even the ice cold temps can stop those die-hard outdoorsmen, determined to enjoy the lake no matter what the season.
We are gearing up for a big party here on Saturday for Allison's first birthday. Her mom is getting very excited and has invited all of her family and friends. It's hard to believe she is one! Time certainly does fly. It seems like just yesterday that she and Petie were born!
Here is a pic of Allie when she was just born - Petie was 3 months old |
Now she's into everything and a real character! |
...and Petie...with a smile that could melt...well....melt Owasco Lake! |
And, we have had some very exciting new.....Drew and Maria have announced that they are expecting again in September! We are so thrilled!
While we have certainly had our share of rough times of late, especially my poor hubby, we praise God for how truly blessed we are!
I also wanted to remind everyone who joined in the Pin Keep Swap that your swaps are due to be mailed by March 16th. I've finished my pin keeps...now to pick up a few goodies to send as well...my partners can expect to have their packages soon! I hope you have had fun with this swap again....we'll do another in the Fall if there is enough interest.
Have a blessed day everyone!
