Whatcha working on Wednesday

Well, Hello dear friends!

Yes, I am finally back to my normal routine.  After yet another house full of company this weekend,  my MIL left Monday afternoon following a month long visit.   Although it was nice to have an extended visit with her, I am glad things are back to normal with just me, Mr. Whimzie, the cats, dog and chickens.  I have to say though, I admire her for flying all the way from Idaho to New York in her late 80s...she does very well getting around and I know she enjoyed seeing the boys and their wives and visiting with her cousin, who also came visiting last weekend.

Now I breath a sigh of relief!

I've been working on a swap package this week and now that it is finished, I have to package up my bat, which sold yesterday, and get busy on two more crows, which were ordered on Monday.  I've also got another pumpkin gal cut out and a couple of Santas as well.  I find sooo many patterns I want to do, yet have so little time to do them!

It poured here all day yesterday, and for the first time in months, I can hear the creek and waterfall flowing.  We needed rain so badly, but it is too late for the farmers, who's crops have pretty much dried up by now.  I think it will be a hard winter financially, for many of the local farms and orchards.  This year has not been a good one for them with the early warmth, then frost, then the drought.  I'm hoping apples aren't going to be too expensive, because I love to buy a couple of bushels each Fall.

Thought I would show you a picture of the big egg we got this past weekend.  OUCH!  That must have hurt! I couldn't even close the lid of the egg carton!  Cracked it for the Mister's breakfast on Saturday and it was a double yolker.  We're getting about 10-11 eggs each day now, with more to come soon I hope.  Once they are coming with regularity, I will start selling them, but in the mean time, I'm baking a lot and giving them away.  Nothing like fresh eggs!  We need to get rid of our 5 roosters...so sad, as they are beautiful birds.  My MIL and husband were planning their demise, but I couldn't bear the thought, so they received a reprieve for now.  We're going to keep one, which I named Hoss, because he is a big and very gentle Roo.  I've been gradually giving the others names as well...so far we have Gladys, Phyllis, Rosey, Loretta..and my "babies"...the blue laced Wyandotte and two Americaunas, are named Minnie, Clarice and Buttercup. It's a little difficult to tell the Barred Rocks apart, so I'm not sure how to name them!

I've been wanting to get a New Swap going, and also, it is WAY past time for a Giveaway...so stay turned for those things next week!  If you have any ideas of what you would like to see as the swap theme, just leave me a comment.  I have a couple of ideas floating around in my head.

Have a happy Wednesday everyone.

  1. That is one XL egg there Wendy. One of my dreams is to have a few Americannas. As for as for a swap idea, I don't know. I was thinking of hosting a fall post card swap, something simple and inexpensive but sure to put a smile in the mail box. I've never hosted a swap before so its still just a thought. Good luck with the Roosters and have a great day.

  3. I have a block in my craft room that says "so many projects, so little time", I completely sympathize with you on the "so many patterns" statement.

Oh, twins on the egg LOL! That thing looks even bigger than a duck egg! Yah, ouch!

Wendy, you always come up with fun swap themes so I say run with what is in your head by all means. I will be watching for the information anxiously!

Back out to paint the Duck Hut...

  5. Hi Wendy: Wow!! Fresh eggs..how wonderful. I have never seen an egg that big.

Love the crow in your etsy. He is amazing. What a wonderful job you did on him. He would be perfect for a halloween centerpiece.

Looking forward to seeing what kind of theme you come up with for a new swap.

    hugs,
    Carol
