While relaxing this evening watching a Laurel and Hardy short from days gone by, our doggie, Jack, was pestering my dear hubby to take him for their nightly walk. Shortly after they went out the front door, DH came back saying there was a fluttering of wings in the bush outside. We all ran out to see the cutest little Screech Owl perched on the edge of the neighbors' bush. I had Drew run inside to grab the cameras and here is our little friend's picture on this snowy night.
Because is was very dark, we didn't notice until I downloaded the pictures I took, that we interrupted this little owl's dinner of blue jay a la snow. We often hear the eerie sounds of these owls at night, but this is the first time we have gotten to see one. They are so cute...don't you think?
Oh that is awesome. When we first moved to our new home in Tombstone AZ we were welcomed by a beautiful white owl that landed on a telephone pole just by our home. Some say it was a bad sign but I thought that it was great. Love your little screech owl.
ReplyDeleteWe live in Oregon now but it was an awesome sight to see this owl come swooping in late at night and just perch outside our deck.
What a great photo of the owl. I need to get a better camera that will take night time shots. We are covered in 1' of snow here in Alabama, which is uncommon for this area. And, I love your blog design with the cute snowmen :)
