Can Someone help?

Last week I was wandering around in blogland and saw a homemade recipe for rusting metal (like jingle bells)...it contained vinegar...but I didn't write it down at the time, and now I cannot locate it.  Do any of my blog buddies have the recipe?  Thanks so much - Blessings to you all.

  1. here is a recipe that I got off line..haven't used it yet..do this outsided in well ventilated area away from pets and children. In an old container, combine 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/2 bleach, 3 tablespoons salt and soak items in or spray this on the items to be rusted..It does take some time but it starts the process quickly and evenly.you can use to rust safety pins too..(this is all the persons wording not mine)..hope this helps.:)

  3. Wendy,

I use 1 bottle peroxide, 1/2 cup of vinager and 2 Tbs of salt. Use old container and do this outside! put your bells, wire, pins in bottom of container add all ingred. use a stick and gently stir the mixture a little to combine. It will foam up and rust your stuff very well. leave in mix for 4 to 5 hours then pour off liquid and let the items sit for a day or two to dry. But do not ever pour down your sink, I pour mine out in the woods.
    Hope this helps.
    Blessings,
    Jean

  5. WEndy,

I use Jeans method but I leave mine sit in the mix for a few days. Then drain and dump out onto a paper towel and allow to air dry. The vinegar/peroxide mix may fizz up so make sure there is some room for expansion.
